Re-elect Tom Kirby
_
_ I am Tom Kirby, and I'm running for reelection in Georgia
House District 114. I am a true Conservative, guided by two main
principles- less government, and fiscal responsibility. I am a strong proponent
of the Fair Tax, and my 25 years
in the business world has provided me with sound financial insight.
The NRA has awarded me their "AQ" rating. I am a 100% pro-life member of the Georgia House. I was endorsed in 2010 by Georgia Right to Life and my position has not changed. Here is the link to Jim Galloway's 2010 blog confirming the GRTL endorsement. I have sent in the Candidates affirmation to GRTL and expected their continuing endorsement. I am a member of the following committees: Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Industrial Relations Human Relations and Aging. Highlights of the Last Legislative Session
Tax Reform The tax reform bill will benefit Georgia families and business and passed with strong bipartisan support. A few of the highlights from the tax reform package include: Pro-Family • Eliminates the “birthday tax” & “sales tax” on motor vehicles. • Reinstates a sales tax holiday for school supplies and energy efficient items. • Eliminates the “marriage penalty” by increasing the personal exemption for married couples by $2,000 on joint income tax returns and $1,000 each on separate returns. Pro-Business • E-Fairness eliminates the advantage that out-of-state businesses had and treats them the same as our own Georgia businesses. • Eliminates the state sales tax on the cost of energy used in manufacturing. Levels the playing field as all other southeastern states do not have a sales tax on energy. This is key to attracting new businesses such as Caterpillar. • Revise taxes on agriculture helping to keep food prices from rising. Zero Based Budgeting Zero-based budgeting implies that each year government agencies would be required to build their budgets from a starting point of $0. From this starting point, the agencies would need to justify the request for monies. As of now, agencies begin with the previous year’s budget and then justify any additional monies desired. By only justifying new requests for monies, the bulk of the budget remains untouched. Hence, the potential to uncover waste becomes exponentially difficult as this process continues through the years Sunset Bill Georgia Government Accountability Act will allow the state to determine whether there is a continued need for existing state-run programs and agencies. This would be done through the Joint Legislative Sunset Advisory Committee. “The Sunset Committee” will review all state agencies and executive branch subsidiaries that receive funds through a state appropriations act. The committee will have the ability to recommend the abolition of an agency, if the responsibility and obligations of the agency in question are repealed, revised, or reassigned. Eliminating these unproductive and underperforming agencies is the path to less government and reducing government spending. Drug Testing for TANF recipients All people who request to receive TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) money, will be required to take a drug test. This is to ensure that taxpayer money is not supporting drug habits. Contact me: Tom Kirby Campaign PO Box 1416 Loganville, GA 30052 (678) 790-5252 Email: tom@electtomkirby.com |
